Footprint

A footprint is the impact that a product makes on the world. It's measured by the issues that a product invokes in use. These impacts are the effects (typically detrimental, though not always) that can occur anywhere in the course of a product's lifecycle, from its ingredients and initial production, to its packaging and usage, and its eventual disposal or reuse.

Green Home recognizes that not every product can meet every environmental criterion, and that with most products come so kind of compromise. Green Home believes in judging each product according to the category it falls within, and also judging the needs of every given job, to determine how environmentally friendly the product is or can be.

An example is paint. Less toxic paint addresses the impacts of air quality, while paints with higher toxicity such as insulating paint and recycled paint help to conserve resources.
